Supreme Court Issues Decision on Conflicts of Interest in Benefit Claims

The United States Supreme Court addressed the issue of how employers and insurers should handle potential conflicts of interest that could occur in the handling of certain claims for benefits. Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. V. Glenn focused on potential conflicts of interest that can occur when a claims administrator has a financial interest in how a claim is decided.
